Midtown
Number of Residence: 117
Number of Story: 70

In this installment of “Condominium Spotlight”, I’ll take you through 220 Central Park South, one of the most expensive condominiums situated right on Billionaires’ Row.

220 Central Park South is another signature project from master architect Robert A.M. Stern and developed by Vornado Realty Trust.

When the 10 most expensive home sales in 2020 were all at the same address, it’s pretty clear that 220 Central Park South is as exquisite and premium as it gets. The deals ranged from $99.9M for the largest sale to $53.6M for the tenth-largest transaction. Once you broaden out to the top 20 residential deals, 220 Central Park South still took 16 of the 20 spots, and with good reason. The limestone-clad condominium combined cutting-edge living with rarified pre-war opulence. Architect Robert A. M. Stern brought his unmatched expertise to craft an apartment building that not only ranks among the city’s tallest but is also the city’s finest. Both the 952-foot tall, 70 story tower and the 18-story “Villa” at Central Park South overlook Central Park through oversized windows. Classicist design distinguishes the building’s many amenity spaces.

The residences are configured with enormous floor to ceiling windows spanning 67 feet of frontage on Central Park, and with superb views of the entire two and a half miles of the vast expanse of Central Park to the north, iconic Fifth Avenue and Central Park West skylines to the east and west.

There are only two apartments per floor, with the interiors designed by famed interior designer, Thierry Despont, who draws on classic prewar details with white oak herringbone floors, custom moldings, and millwork.

The kitchen features satin lacquered parchment white cabinetry, polished nickel upper cabinets with translucent glass and interior and under-cabinet lighting, Grigio Carnico polished marble countertops, and stainless steel and backlit Onyx backsplashes throughout. Coupled with top-of-the-line Miele and Sub-Zero appliances, including a 4-burner gas stove, vented hood, wall oven, steam oven, speed oven, warming drawer, and a 24” wine storage.

The master bedroom offers exquisite views while the master bathroom, clad in Calacatta and Nero Marquina marble contains a cast-iron bath with custom marble surround and handheld, as well as a separate Lefroy Brooks polished nickel steam and rain shower with triple valve controls.

220 Central Park South offers a complete lifestyle package within unparalleled amenities including 24-hour attended lobbies in the Tower and Villa, a Resident’s Club with full-service Dining Room, Club Room, and Bar, Dining Terrace, Screening Room, Game Room, Athletic Club and Spa, featuring a 25-meter saline pool and a fitness center; a full international Squash Court, a half Basketball Court, a Golf Simulator, a Playroom, Wine Tasting Room and Parking.
